About Us

A Note from Our Executive Director
“To the families, Service Coordinators, and community partners visiting our site — welcome.
FUCIS was built on a simple belief: that every adult living with an intellectual or developmental disability deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in pursuing the life they want for themselves. Not the life someone else has decided for them. Their own.
After many years of working in this field, I’ve come to understand that the most meaningful progress doesn’t happen in a classroom or an office; it happens when a participant is truly listened to, when their goals are taken seriously, and when a team of people shows up for them, day after day, ready to do the work alongside them.
That is what we strive to be at FUCIS. Not just a program, but a partner. Not just a service, but a steady presence in the lives of the participants and families who trust us.
To every participant who has chosen us, and to every family who has welcomed us into their loved one’s journey — thank you. We are honored to walk this path with you”.
Warmly,
Karen Williams, Executive Director, Futures Unlimited Community Integration Services
We strive to bring out the best in you.
Experienced Leadership
FUCIS is led by a seasoned team with more than 30 combined years of experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and leading community-based programs. That depth of experience, paired with certifications in Person-Centered Planning (PCP), Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), and the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) and a host of other certifications, shapes how we serve every participant who walks through our doors. A commitment to learning, growth, and excellence is woven into our services, our staff training, and our daily operations.
A Person-Centered Approach
Person-Centered-Practices
At the heart of everything we do is the person-centered plan. We believe the participant is the expert on their own life, and our role is to listen first, plan together, and walk alongside them as they pursue their goals. This process empowers each individual, encourages self-reflection and creativity, opens the door to a wide range of possibilities, and ensures that every step we take together has the best chance of leading to meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Why We Champion Volunteerism
We believe community is built through contribution. When our participants step into a volunteer role, they aren't just gaining experience, they're showing their community what they have to offer. Volunteering teaches purpose, builds belonging, and reminds every participant that they are not someone waiting to be served. They are someone with something valuable to give.

Why We Focus on Skills Development
We believe confidence is built one skill at a time. Every participant who walks through our doors carries strengths that the world hasn't always taken the time to see. Our work is to help uncover those strengths, sharpen them, and pair them with the practical tools, communication, time management, self-advocacy — that turn potential into progress.

Why We Believe in the Paid Internship Program
We believe a paycheck is more than money, it's recognition. It says: your time matters, your work matters, you matter. Too many adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have been told what they cannot do. The Paid Internship Program gives our participants the chance to discover, in their own time and on their own terms, exactly what they can, and we are proud to be part of that journey.
We're Helping Individuals Grow Every Day.
Our Career Support Staff are with each individual every step of the way — coaching, encouraging, and reinforcing the skills they’re working to build. This consistent, hands-on support continues for as long as the participant needs it, ensuring they feel confident, capable, and supported in every learning environment they enter.
