FUCIS was built on a simple belief: that every adult — regardless of their background, their challenges, or where they are starting from — deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in building the life they want for themselves.
We have spent years walking alongside people who have been underestimated, overlooked, or simply never given the right support at the right time. What we have learned is that meaningful progress is rarely about a single program or a single service. It is about showing up consistently — listening carefully, building trust, and creating the conditions where each person can grow at their own pace, toward their own personal and professional goals.
That is what FUCIS strives to be: not just a provider, but a partner. A steady, committed presence for the individuals and communities we serve.

Experienced Leadership
FUCIS is led by a seasoned team with more than 30 combined years of experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and leading community-based programs. That depth of experience, paired with certifications in Person-Centered Planning (PCP), Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), and the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) and a host of other certifications, shapes how we serve every participant who walks through our doors. A commitment to learning, growth, and excellence is woven into our services, our staff training, and our daily operations.

We believe the participant is the expert on their own life, and our role is to listen first, plan together, and walk alongside them as they pursue their goals. This process empowers each individual, encourages self-reflection and creativity, opens the door to a wide range of possibilities, and ensures that every step we take together has the best chance of leading to meaningful, lasting outcomes.

We believe employment is one of the most direct pathways to dignity, independence, and a stable life. When a participant secures a job — whether it's their first or their next — something shifts. They don't just gain income. They gain identity, routine, and a place in their community. Every person we serve deserves that opportunity, and we show up every day to help make it real.

We believe preparation is an act of respect. Before a participant ever walks into an interview, we walk alongside them — building the skills, confidence, and practical tools that give them a real chance. Resume writing, interview preparation, workplace communication, self-advocacy — these aren't boxes to check. They are the foundation of a career, and we take them seriously for every person we serve, regardless of where they are starting from.
Why We Focus on Removing Barriers
We believe that what stands between a person and employment is rarely ability — it's access. Transportation, support systems, economic instability, and limited opportunity have kept too many capable adults on the sidelines. FUCIS exists to close that gap. Through travel training, supportive services, and individualized employment planning, we work to remove the real-world obstacles that have nothing to do with what a person can do and everything to do with what they've been given access to.

Our Career Support Staff are with each individual every step of the way — coaching, encouraging, and reinforcing the skills they’re working to build. This consistent, hands-on support continues for as long as the participant needs it, ensuring they feel confident, capable, and supported in every learning environment they enter.
